What other skin care procedures are working well for your patients? 2005-03-08
Q. What other procedures are you finding that your patients appreciate for their effectiveness and their ease of use?
A.
There are just so many simple things. Of course, once again, I stress preventative care, and we have a list of sunscreen products that we believe are excellent. When it comes to problems or complaints, we have many ways to turn.
First, there are the retinoids and the alpha-hydroxy products to smooth and lessen light lines and wrinkles. Where there are deeper lines, Botox® and collagen are options. Juvederm/Restylane can be injected to fill out wrinkles and acne scars. And of course, the peels, which can be administered on a variety of levels. These are not the very deep peels, but rather superficial to moderate peels which leave your skin glowing. The Obagi Blue PeelTM or a series of Derma PeelsTM (microdermabrasion) can correct more skin damage.
Q. Are these peels and procedures primarily all for the face?
A.
The face is generally of prime concern, but chemical peels are excellent for other areas as well. Age spots on the hands can be eliminated with a peel. Or skin damage on the chest can be improved.
